I have an alarm fitted to my home / business – why should I sign up to Derbyshire Safeguard?
There are two types of alarms
1) Those monitored by a central station providing support when activated
2) Those not monitored providing only an audible indication of activation
If your alarm is monitored by a central station and you are a business then the Silver level service will provide the most appropriate preventative support for your business.
If your alarm is not monitored then activation or incident at your home/business depends upon members of the public to call either the police or the local authority to protect your property. Registration with Derbyshire safeguard bronze or silver level service will ensure that your nominated/ preferred contacts or key holders are made aware of an incident enabling an appropriate response.
Why have we got to pay for this service?
Business crime prevention services in Derbyshire have historically been funded by external partners by substantial grants. In 2007 this funding ceased. Derbyshire Safeguard is designed to maintain these services by charging modest fees for services used. Derbyshire Police is not required by statute to provide Derbyshire Safeguard services but aspires to do so in order that Derbyshire businesses are protected appropriately from the damage cause by Business crime.
What benefit is this to me as my alarm company already provide this service?
Although the key holder registration element of this service may not be necessary if you have a private company monitoring your alarm the additional benefits of the Silver Service will be advantageous in appropriately protecting your business.
Can I make payment by instalments?
Unfortunately we require payment in full on registration
What businesses should be registered with Derbyshire Safeguard?
Our services are designed specifically for Micro Enterprises and Small to Medium Enterprises across Derbyshire. These can be agricultural, industrial, retail, commercial, service sector or home based.
The police already have my key holder details – why change now?
Like any area of business it is essential to improve and adapt the service we provide. Derbyshire Constabularies’ historical registration process for key holder details for non monitored alarms will cease from January 2009.
Derbyshire Safeguard – Bronze will supersede this with enhanced functionality and the opportunity to register preferred emergency service suppliers and specific details of your premises. A small fee is charged for this service to ensure information registered is updated to maintain its validity and to support the administration of the services.
Derbyshire Safeguard gives you an influence of the emergency response to incidents at your business or domestic premises and saves the police and emergency services time in seeking the most appropriate response to your premises.
